LAURA LA VECCHIA
guitar theorbo lute

SHop now
This Da Vinci Classics album features the theorbist Laura La Vecchia as soloist, guiding us on a fascinating journey through some of the most important composers of the 17th century. Among them are Alessandro Piccinini, Johannes Hieronymus Kapsberger (represented with works preserved in the Albani Archive in Pesaro and in Paris), Bellerofonte Castaldi, Girolamo Viviani (from a manuscript in Modena), Giacomo Antonio Pfender (also from the Modena archive), and Angelo Michele Bartolotti (from a Viennese manuscript).
What unites them is their mastery of the contrapuntal language, a shared musical language in which they were trained and through which they expressed themselves. Thanks to it, they were able to engage with the melodic world of vocal music, weaving lines together and building bridges and sonic architectures.
Their works, brought together in this program, restore to the listener the full charm of a majestic instrument, capable of intensity and sweetness, lyricism and poetry.
